If your mind is racing, gently bring your focus back to the present moment. Look around and slowly name:
Look for 5 distinct objects around you — notice their colour, shape, texture.
Feel 4 physical sensations — your feet on the floor, the chair, air on your skin.
Listen for 3 sounds — distant traffic, birds, your own breath.
Notice 2 scents — the room, your clothes, outside air.
Take one slow, deliberate breath in (4 counts) and out (6 counts).
A 4-7-8 breathing exercise can calm your nervous system within 2 minutes.
